January 20th 2012 Music Walk

Fort Myers Music Walk returns Friday, January 20th 2012 for a new year of live music in downtown Fort Myers.  Music Walk begain in August of 2010 and has continued each month since then, bringing all ages and new enthusiasm to downtown Fort Myers.  Starting this month Music Walk now happens on 3rd Fridays from 7pm til close.  Over a dozen bars, restaurants and retail shops feature local musicians inside their establishments and on downtown streets.   Experience historic Fort Myers and modern grass-roots musical talent in this popular one of a kind event.

Participating musical venues include HOWL Gallery/Tattoo, Lush Bakery, Hotel Indigo, Hideaway Sports Bar, The Franklin Shops, Charme, Space39, Morgan House, Indigo Room, Downtown House of Pizza, Whats Up Dogs, World Famous Cigar Bar, Spirits of Bacchus, City Tavern, The Veranda, Twisted Vine Bistro, French Connection Cafe, Sidney Berne Davis Art Center, United Cafe, and More!

Music Walk was created and is managed by the River District Alliance, a non-profit organization run by volunteer members in downtown Fort Myers.

Music Walk venues showcase a variety of music, from punk, rockabilly, indie, reggae, and folk, to piano, steel drums, and more. The event is the largest of its kind regionally. Music Walk is an all ages event that starts at 7 p.m. Free parking available.

Highlights of this months Music Walk include:

HOWL Gallery/Tattoo - back patio: Featuring local original bands, After the Fact, We Are All Virus, Embrace Oblivion, Man on Wire, and Love in War.  Artwork by HOWL tattoo artist and painter Matt Lackey on display inside the gallery.

City Tavern - Featuring MT40, a local cover band that combines high energy, danceable covers, with a few classics tunes and plenty of crowd pleasers to produce a fun and inviting show that will have you coming back for more!

French Connection - Featuring Robb N the Cradle Band.  Playing Southern, Classic and Modern rock covers, accompanied by a mix of originals.

Spirits of Bacchus - Featuring live music by the Drunk Monkeys.

Indigo Room - Memphis56 rockabilly band performs.

The Veranda - Gary Goetz performs at the worlds famous piano bar.
